Focused and Structured Research and Development
Scorpion Works is an elite team of scientists and engineers working to accelerate the design and commercialization of new products through the application of the patented Volumetrically Controlled Manufacturing (VCM) process. These products will exploit VCM's unique rapid-prototyping capability of composite materials.
The Scorpion Works research and development team is led by Dr. James St. Ville, inventor of VCM and Chairman of Armor Designs. Based on the principles established and perfected by major defense manufacturers such as Boeing's "Phantom Works" and Lockheed Martin's "Skunk Works," Scorpion Works provides a more focused and structured approach to the design and subsequent commercialization of new applications with a view to further accelerate the speed by which they can be brought to market.
"We are delighted to announce the formation of Scorpion Works, which the Board is confident will support the full power and capability of VCM as it will enable the Company to quickly model and design optimal solutions for a wide array of armor applications across the broadest spectrum of industries. We believe that this development will create a forum to design new armor materials for future threat levels. By separating our applied R & D efforts from our manufacturing processes, we will be able to accelerate our new application designs while simultaneously progressing with our ongoing production."
